2 Junior Pitchers Commit To Chatt-a-Hoots; Bringing Player Total To 7
Columbus, GA - The Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots are thrilled to announce the commitments for two junior pitchers to the 2021 inaugural season roster.
Daniel Holley (JR, Tennessee Tech) and Ryan Middleton (JR, Union) have both signed on to be a part of the Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots in 2021.
Holley is a left-handed pitcher who won Alabama State titles with Glenwood in Phenix City his junior and senior years of high school. Prior to COVID-19 shutting down Tenn. Tech's season in 2019, Holley appeared in four games (0-0 record), tossing 4.2 innings with six strikeouts and three walks and an ERA of 3.86.
"Daniel Holley is a dynamic LHP with a high baseball IQ on the mound" Chatt-a-Hoots manager Steve Smith said. "He is projected to be an impact arm this spring and in our pitching staff this summer. He features a mid to upper 80's FB from the left side, a strong CH and a wipeout slider. We are excited to have Daniel on board this summer!"
Middleton is a right-handed pitcher who has worked his way up, literally, to Union University. His college career started at Andrew College, then transferred to Enterprise State Community College, all before suiting up this season with Union. In those first two stops he made a combined 15 appearances out of the bullpen with a 1-4 record. His high school roots also trace back to East Alabama as he is a 2018 grad of Smiths Station.
"Being able to play in front of family and friends is a blessing that playing in college doesn’t offer" Middleton said. "I’m excited to get to work, and bring baseball back to Golden Park."
"Ryan Middleton is strong RHP from a high 3/4 arm slot that has really developed over the past few seasons at the junior college level" Smith said. "He will likely split time in the rotation and bullpen at Union this Spring. He has a mid to upper 80's FB with a strong secondary, that allows him to pitch backwards at times. We believe Ryan will be a strong addition to our pitching staff this summer!"
Holley and Middleton join Luke Davis, Davis Livingston and Cole Mathis (two-way player) in the pitching staff of players who have committed to the Hoots in 2021.
