Chatt-a-Hoots Add 2 Junior College Prospects To Roster
Columbus, GA - The Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots have two new players to announce to their inaugural season roster. Right-handed pitcher Logan Austin and catcher Austin Embrey.
"We are excited to announce the signings of two Junior College players who are both graduates from Russell County High School." Hoots Manager Steve Smith said.
Logan Austin is a freshman at Chipola College currently and has his sights set on the majors. Coming out of Russell County in the class of 2020, he was a top 5 recruit overall out of the state of Alabama and featured some heat off the mound.
"Logan Austin is an impact arm and a potential MLB draft prospect" Smith said. "He is a 6'4" freshman RHP and features a power Fastball at 95-97 mph with a 12/6 breaking ball and change-up. We believe he will be a strong addition with his swing and miss pitch mix."
Austin Embrey is also a freshman in college right now playing at Gulf Coast Community College. In high school he was a catcher and third baseman with a great arm behind the plate and at the hot corner, and has been clocked under 1.9 seconds on his pop time.
"Austin Embrey is plus defender behind the plate" Smith said. He is a freshman who is known for his ability to impact the game defensively at the catcher position. He is a solid right handed hitter that we are excited to add to our roster this summer."
Both Austin and Embrey add in to the strong pitching and catching pool the Hoots are planning to build in the 2021 season. Season ticket packages to see the Hoots this year are available now at GoHoots.com/Tickets. Opening day is June 11 against the Waleska Wild Things!
