Chatt-a-Hoots Unveil 2022 Playing Schedule

Columbus, GA – The Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots have revealed their 2022 playing schedule which will be the second season the club will play in the Sunbelt Baseball League.

The schedule features 31 games, 28 in the regular season and a three-game slate with the newest expansion team the Choccolocco Monsters in late May.

Golden Park’s opening night will be June 4^th against the Monsters with a 7:05 first pitch.

“The Sunbelt Baseball League has provided the Hoots a very good schedule and we’re very excited to take part in our second season in the league” VP of Communications Zak DeBeaussaert said. “After an exhilarating run to the SBL championship series last season, we’re looking for even bigger and better results in 2022.”

The Hoots will start with six straight games against the Monsters when you combine preseason and the beginning of the regular season. May 28^th will see a team-controlled doubleheader of 7-inning games played between the two teams, with experimental rules and set up situations allowed for both coaching staffs to be able to get a better look at their teams ahead of the season. The next day the teams will play a standard 9-inning game at Golden Park and will finish the preseason in Oxford on June 1.

After the opening weekend of the regular season sees Columbus and Choccolocco playing in each other’s ballparks one more time each, the Hoots hit the road in a playoff rematch with Gainesville (formerly the Braves, now branded the Gold Diggers) for their first non-Monsters game.

The Chatt-a-Hoots have also struck an agreement with the Atlanta Blues to move a game to Golden Park meaning the team will have 15 “home games” this season. However, on the game in question (June 22^nd), Columbus will be the designated road team for top and bottom halves of innings.

The Sunbelt Baseball League recognizes a prospect showcase break between June 26^th and June 30^th. The regular season ends on Wednesday July 27^th with playoffs scheduled to go into early August at the latest.
