HOOTS ADVANCE TO SBL FINAL

by Tom Callahan

DECATUR, GA - The Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots swept the SunBelt Baseball League Semifinal series from the Atlanta Blues 2-0 with a convincing 13-1 win in seven innings on Saturday night.

Carrying a 2-1 lead into the fourth inning, the Hoots exploded for five runs to start an 11-run barrage over the next three innings for a lead the Blues could not overcome.

Zane Ross finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs to lead the offense while Walt McConnell went 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

The Hoots also received four innings of four-hit, one-run pitching from lefthander Joey Gill. Connor Folds, Jackson Hilton and Logan Seehafer all contributed an inning each in the run-rule shortened game to complete the effort.

After the Chattahoochee Monsters won on Saturday night at Golden Park, the Hoots will now wait for the deciding Game Three before they know their opponent and dates for the SBL Final. Ticket information will be posted on all Hoots social media and at GoHoots.com as soon as details are available.
