HOOTS BACK INTO FIRST PLACE TIE WITH WIN OVER GOL'DIGGERS
COLUMBUS, GA - The Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots won the first half of a weekend series and moved into a first place tie with the Gainesville Gol’Diggers 8-6 at Golden Park on Friday night.
Gainesville jumped out to a 3-1 lead with a three-run fifth inning before the Hoots got the offense in gear. Starting with the fifth inning, Columbus scored at least one run in every inning going forward, including a four run outburst in the sixth that included a two RBI triple from Ellis Yohn.
In the ninth, the Gol’Diggers managed to get two runs back and make it a close game in the end, but Connor Trepanier came on to earn the save by getting the final two outs with the bases loaded.
Trey Sanders earned the win with three solid innings of work, allowing one run on two hits and striking out seven.
The rematch takes place Saturday night at 7:05 pm. Tickets are on sale now through the team website at GoHoots.com or at the Golden Park box office starting two hours before first pitch.
