HOOTS EARN WEEKEND SWEEP WITH 3-0 WIN OVER MONSTERS

COLUMBUS, GA - The Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots swept a weekend home-and-home with the Chattahoochee Monsters, winning the second contest on Saturday night by a 3-0 score.


The two teams battled to a scoreless draw until the sixth inning when the Hoots finally managed to plate a pair of runs and build a 2-0 lead. Columbus added an insurance run in the eighth when Carter Schmitt brought home Connor O’Neal after a leadoff triple to start the inning.


Logan Seehafer earned the save in the ninth despite the Monsters loading the bases with two out. Seehafer managed to strike out Warrick Wilmot looking for the game’s final out.


Carson Swilling earned the win with one inning of no-hit baseball in the fifth, and Landon Johnson took the loss for the Monsters.


The two teams now head out on the road for a pair of games Monday and Wednesday. Chattahoochee will visit the Atlanta Blues at 7:05 pm and the Hoots will take on the Gainesville Gol’Diggers at 6:35 pm.
