
HOOTS MAKE IT THREE IN A ROW WITH WIN OVER BLUES
DECATUR, GA - Connor O’Neal recorded three RBIs including a two-run home run in the third inning to help the Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots to a 6-4 win at the Atlanta Blues on Monday.
O’Neal is hitting .364 with two home runs and seven runs batted in to start the SunBelt Baseball League season, leading the Hoots in the latter two categories to open the season.
Columbus scored twice in the third, fourth and sixth innings in a back-and-forth game in which the lead changed hands three times before the Hoots went ahead for good in the sixth.
Hogan Mayhew earned the win with two innings of relief work, giving up three hits and one earned run to go with one walk and one strikeout. Ashton Shackelford closed the game out in the ninth for his second save of the season.
Columbus heads back to face the Blues again on Wednesday night at 7:05 pm. The next Hoots home game is Friday, June 9 as the Chatt-a-Hoots and Chattahoochee Monsters face off for the first time this season.
