HOOTS NOTCH DRAMATIC WIN IN 11 INNINGS

by Tom Callahan

The Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots wiggled out of a bases loaded one out jam in the bottom of the 10th inning and then scored three times in the top of the 11th inning to take a 7-4 win over the Atlanta Crackers on Monday night.

With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 10th, Crackers second baseman Cory Lee hit a deep fly ball to left field. Hoots left fielder Jonathan Manibusen dropped back and charged into the catch, getting his momentum into a pinpoint throw to the plate to cut down Conner Todaro who tagged from third base.

The double play ended the inning and gave the Chatt-a-Hoots momentum heading into the 11th inning where they scored three runs with two outs thanks to three walks and two hit batsmen to take the win.

Trey Sanders got the win in three innings of scoreless relief work, allowing no hits while walking two and striking out five.

The same two teams will rematch on Wednesday night. First pitch is slated for 7:05 pm. The Hoots Pregame show starts on 106.9 Really Rocks in Columbus at 6:50 pm.
