HOOTS RALLY FALLS SHORT IN NINTH

by Tom Callahan

COLUMBUS, GA - The Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots staged a furious rally in the bottom of the ninth inning but fell short in a 9-7 loss to the Brookhaven Bucks on Saturday night.

The Hoots entered the inning trailing 9-3, but managed to score four times before Logan Lynch was finally able to put out the fire for the Bucks.

Walt McConnell finished the game 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs for Columbus.

With the series split with Brookhaven, the Hoots now need the Gainesville Gol’Diggers to lose both halves of a Sunday doubleheader against the Chattahoochee Monsters to claim first place in the SunBelt Baseball League.

The Chatt-a-Hoots will now await the results of the SBL Wild Card round to see which team they will play in the Semi Final round. Ticket information will be announced as soon as possible via the team website at GoHoots.com.
