HOOTS RIDE EIGHT-RUN FIRST TO WIN OVER WILD THINGS
COLUMBUS, GA - The Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots scored eight runs in the first inning en route to a 12-5 victory over the Waleska Wild Things on Sunday afternoon at Golden Park.
The Hoots sent 13 batters to the plate in the first, scoring eight runs on five hits and getting help from a combination of wild pitches and errors from Waleska as well.
That margin was all the Hoots pitching staff needed, as starter William Turner scattered two hits and two runs across three innings of work for the win. Turner also recorded four walks and six strikeouts in the outing for Columbus. In all, five pitchers combined in the game for the Hoots to seal the victory.
On the offensive side of the ball, Zane Ross led the way with a pair of RBIs and finishing 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Eight other Chatt-a-Hoots recorded RBIs in the win.
